Location: Asia is northeast of Africa, and directly west of Europe. Place: Asia is the largest and most populated continent on the earth. On its millions of miles of land there are seven mountain ranges, multiple large rivers, and lots of farmland. Region: Asia is home to the Middle East, Central Asia, Northern Asia, Southeast Asia, Southern Asia, Southwest Asia. Places like Bollywood, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Beijing are functional regions in Asia, because they produce goods for the rest of the world. The Middle East, Japan, China, and India are all perceptual regions. The Middle East makes people think of terrorists, and gives off a bad connotation. Japan and China are well known for pollution, overpopulation, and are seen as the most technologically advanced places in the world. India is well known because of the stereotypical labels, such as arranged marriage, Hinduism/Buddhism, and sexism. Movement: Ideas such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam spread through Asia very quickly and remain the most popular religions in that region to this day. Opium was very popular in the 1600s and spread very quickly because of the lack of education during imperialism. Human Environmental Interaction: Pollution is a huge problem for people in the more developed areas of Asia, such as China and Japan. There is also a lot of the continent impacted positively and used for farming and simple living, outside of the busy cities.
